Innovation in Malaria Control

Malaria control is evolving — driven by innovation and smarter strategies.

Next-generation ITNs, including pyrethroid–chlorfenapyr nets, are improving control in resistant settings.

Spatial emanators are expanding protection where conventional tools fall short.

Malaria vaccines are now scaling up, adding a critical layer of protection for young children.

At the African Institute for Research in Infectious Diseases (AIRID), we generate the evidence needed to guide these advances.

Our work includes:

  • Evaluation of next-generation vector control tools
  • Operational research to support effective deployment of new tools, including vaccines

The future is integration. Impact will come from coordinated, data-driven interventions tailored to local contexts.

AIRID is committed to ensuring Africa leads the science shaping malaria control and elimination.
